The dsg is awesome imo.I have both dsg and "basic" automatic trans. In two vw's. The basic trans is decent but the dsg is way better. Shifts way quicker , way smoother, and rev matches very well. Its also more compicated with dual clutches and what nots. Ones a basic automatic trans and the other isn't even really a automatic.
Ensuring appropriate oil level: Warm up the car; 10-15 minutes of idling the engine from cold will be sufficient. Keeping your foot on the brake, cycle through each gear selection for 3-5 seconds. This draws the fluid into the transmission at each gear. The transmission temperature should read between 35-46 degrees Celsius (95-113 Fahrenheit).
Hey guys so I know this video is a little different than my usual content but I thought i would share with everyone how to change your oil on a 2017 VW golf.
Usually, this happens every 9 to 12 months after the accumulation of a track day or two, lots of autocrosses, and the usual DD duty that the car is subjected to. Mileage-wise, I'd say it's less than 15k miles, and the tranny fluid change always restores the smoothness that is gradually lost over time and hard usage.

I use a specialty German shop that deals in nothing bu VW, Audi, BMW, etc. They do all of my oil changes, they did my APR tune and intake install, and I had them do my DSG service at 43K as well. If I remember correctly I paid just over 200 bucks for the DSG service. I'd find a shop like this if you aren't going to use a VW dealer.
Jul 21, 2022. #1. Hello, I have a golf 1.5 TSI from 2017 (mk 7.5) with a 7 speed DSG. It's currently just over 60'000 km and is running perfectly fine, however I am unsure about what to do about the DSG oil. When I called the VW dealership, they told me my model has a dry clutch with a 'lifetime seal', and that the oil does not need to be changed.
