Imagine having that same attitude about Star Wars, Indiana Jones, Pokémon 1st generation, etc. Great Things fizzle out quite often. Game of Thrones was and will always be a masterpiece. I actually can't wait for the REAL ending to be published. I never believed GRRMartin would give away the ending to his masterpiece.
One Reddit user contemplated what would have happened if Ned hadn't been beheaded, saying, "Ned would have been made Lord Commander instead of Jon. He may have been asked to stay back and fill in for Mormont and missed the mutiny." Had Ned Stark actually been offered the option of living his days out with the Night's Watch, it's likely he would

Yes, for sure. I am one who doesn’t think Season 8 is as terrible as everyone says. I watched 1-7 and was worried about season 8, like you. I was pleasantly surprised because it really wasn’t that bad imo.
The closest thing around to GOT is LOTR, extended version of 12 hours is the best watch. As for strictly TV shows, maybe “Lost” or “Battle Star Galactica” , although the endings of both are almost as bad as GOT. if you have never watched “Babylon 5” try it, it is kinda old but stands up well in the test of time, great story, 5
A deep, fantasy world with lots of details, lots of different characters that felt authentic, various plot lines happening simultaneously, etc. The last couple of seasons dropped in quality because the writers ran out of book material (the books weren't finished yet, so the show writers had to improv a lot more), and I think the show lost a lot
He now gets them back by willpower. Removed the hunt for a wight beyond the Wall plotline. Repurposed it without that wight staying alive. Bran now communicates with Jon via visions to have him go after the Night King beyond the Wall. Everything that happens with the Night King now goes one after another very quickly.
It's called the Watchers on the Couch by Xenix_404 and features Ned, Cat, Sansa, Rob, Jon, Dany, Tormund, Tyrion, Bron and Sam I believe. It's tagged a Jon/Dany fic. Rated Mature. SUMMARY The characters of GoT find themselves in a mysterious room, brought to watch a future that has been deemed too dangerous to be left unchecked.
So, my advice: watch the show first. If you can, watch it twice as you will get more things and understand the whole plot better (I was surprised when I realized I had missed so much). When you finish watching it, read them, it won't disappoint you at least as much as it would have if you had read the books first.
The downside of watching Game of Thrones Blu-Ray in glorious 1080p High Definition, is that you end up noticing things you're not supposed to notice, and that were not noticeable before. Like Ned Stark's wig. [x-post from r/pics]
